Eleanor ‘June’ Larson, age 98 of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away February 2, 2026 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Swede Home, with Pastor Evan Christensen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Kevin Barbary, Daniel Skiles, Jeff Skiles, Crosby Kath, Brian Kath, Jacob Baier, Andrew Larson, James Larson, William Hug and Oliver Hug. Interment will be in the Swede Home Cemetery.
June was born in Pender, Nebraska on June 16, 1927 to Elmer and Lilly Malmberg. She was the oldest of five children. June attended school in Thurston County. As a teen and young adult, June worked for several area families, helping with household chores and childcare. She later moved to Stromsburg and began working at the Midwest Covenant Home.
On August 7, 1955, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Larson and together they had eight children. She was a hard working farm wife, helping with farm chores, raising children, a large garden, lots of flowers, was a wonderful seamstress, sewing many clothes for her children, their dolls and herself.
June was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and sewing hundreds of quilts for those in need.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Dorothy Larson of Omaha, Dianne (Glen) Skiles of Columbus, Marvin Larson of Stromsburg, Donna Kath of York, Mervin Larson of Auburn, WA, Michael Larson of Stromsburg, Doris (Dean) Baier of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Darlene Hug of Oak Park, IL; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; brother Ray Malmberg of Reedsport, OR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; sister Genevieve; and brothers Mack and Charlie.
